Ronei Leonel is an Assistant Professor of Management at Salisbury University. His research sits at the intersection of strategic leadership and the nonmarket environment, investigating how C-suite executives navigate complex pressures—including sociopolitical activism, business human rights, and emerging social issues.

A methodological pluralist, Ronei combines traditional econometric approaches with computational social science. He leverages Python, R, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyze large-scale textual data, bringing new insights to fundamental questions in strategy. His work has been published in leading outlets including the Journal of Management Studies, Academy of Management Perspectives, Rutgers Business Review, and Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management.

Ronei brings nearly a decade of international teaching experience to the classroom. Prior to his current role at Salisbury University, where he has taught for over four years, he spent five years as an instructor in Brazil. He currently leads courses in Strategic Management and Business and Society, utilizing experiential learning methods to ground theoretical concepts in real-world application.

Outside of academia, Ronei is an avid chess player who competes in tournaments and enjoys studying the game. He also loves traveling to explore museums and historical sites with his wife and daughter, and experimenting with American and Italian-American cuisine in the kitchen.
